Fourth of July Outfit Ideas

It's the eve of the Fourth of July and you're freaking out because you don't know what to wear. You liked your outfit last year, but it was nothing special. This year, you really want to show people your chic style. Or, maybe, you're just not good at this kind of stuff or need some inspiration. Whether you're off to a huge pool party tomorrow or you're just going to have a small get together lighting off fireworks and toasting s'mores over a huge bonfire with some friends and family, you'll want to dress for the occassion because it's Independence Day!

The best tip I can give you when trying to piece together a festive outfit for the Fourth is to look in your closet and get creative. Although most of the items I'm showing are now unavaliable, I've listed the places they're from to give you a good idea of where you can find items like these should you be interested in any of them.

Option 1: Solid Colors with Denim

Start by scouting your closet for the colors of the flag - red, white, and blue. You'll probably be surprised at how much of these colors are scattered throughout your closet. I know I was! Pair with contrasting washes of denim for a more put-together look!

Option 2: Chambray

Chambray is always a good idea and, of course, the epitome of classic American style (in my opinion). I had 2 chambray pieces lurking in my closet - one short sleeved button down top and one of my favorite sundresses. Like in option 1, the top depends on the bottom. Contrast your denim or opt for white, khaki, olive, or even camo bottoms if you're feeling it. Really, you should have fun with styling an outfit for the holiday! Finish the look off with some mixed metal jewelry, like silver, gold, bronze, or rose gold.

Option 3: Make a Statement

So, maybe you're not really into dressing up for the holiday, and think it's kinda dorky that people try really hard to have the perfect outfit for the Fourth. Take a simple statement piece to put a festive twist on America's colors. Whether it's clothes, shoes, jewelry, or maybe a bright red lipstick, you don't have to go all out to recognize the beauty of this special day. Here are some pieces I would use to make a statement.

The flag top is a little out there, but is definitely easy to throw on and makes a bold statement. The earrings are a nice touch to complete any outfit, and the cardigan is a unique piece that looks great with bright white underneath it.

Wear sneakers such as the effortless slouchy style of Converse High Tops for a more active day of festivities.

For a casual preppy look, shoot for some slip-ons such as Sperry Topsiders.

If you're looking to get more dressed up or in the mood for a feminine flirty look, go for some white sandals with gold accents. These really look great with a tan!

If you're going to be out in the sun all day, don't forget your shades! ;)

I know today's post was a bit short and went up late (eastern standard time) but I wanted to get it up before midnight of the Fourth. I hope everyone has a great holiday tomorrow and rest of the weekend. Since tomorrow is a holiday/special occasion, I'll have a Day in My Life post up by tomorrow night

Until next time,
~Alexa~
